Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the September show, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
