Explore Twenty-Nine Latest Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Including a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)
The world's beloved pizza-loving heroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a exclusive event hosted at NYCC. Is this a exciting addition or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you decide.
Take a look here at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including some useful background. Everything listed here launches on March 6, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27th.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Cards
Before we get into the many special decks and collections on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.
Let’s explore a couple of shell-shocking details. First, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, in which gamers can cheat big creatures onto the game field when an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also used this chance to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability because that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior designer stated. “However in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and Sneak will be in standard, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”
Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is one of four cards with special art created exclusively for the expansion by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. But as per Wizards, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, here are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers state they took care to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for 15 months and we knew it was going to be Standard-legal and what other sets would be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer says. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype focused on artifacts.
“They combine to offer the components for a fun Standard deck,” the designer added.
Commander Deck: Turtle Power
Following a decision to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander depending on how you pair them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone rather than only one). Take a look below:
The Turtle Power deck is priced at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on demand. Sources indicated that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we estimate the precon comes with 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)
As per usual, Wizards is selling a collection. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil basic lands
- Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
- Two helper cards
- One Foil promo card
- One Large spindown life counter
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza Bundle
Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- Nine Play Boosters
- 1 Collector Booster
- Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
- 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- 2 Reference cards
- One Large life tracker
- 1 storage box
For those curious about the “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card with all-new TMNT artwork. The team showed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards available.
This special bundle launches a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:
- Twelve Standard Boosters (ideal for four people to draft)
- One Collector Booster (aka, the prize for coming in first)
- 90 Regular land cards (to build your deck)
- Ten Non-foil token cards
- 1 Draft insert (a single-page guide to drafting this expansion)
Turtle Team-Up
Lastly, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic game products aimed at new players. Here, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
