Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much success on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
