The former Liverpool manager says coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure featuring continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I refuse to lead another team in England. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, so I might decide later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, yet sharing a meal with the players talking freely, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood around the place. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, though he denied the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. Jota died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Handling this on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
