The Much-Awaited 007 Game First Light Encounters a Delay, Now Arriving in Late Spring 2026.
The Development Studio
The release of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been delayed until 27 May 2026.
Originally slated for a 27 March release, the title will now hit shelves approximately 60 days past its initial date.
A Much-Needed Comeback for 007
This project marks the inaugural video game to feature the legendary British spy since 2012's 007 Legends, wrapping up a lengthy hiatus for the character in the gaming world.
"Our project is fully playable from start to finish," stated studio IO Interactive. "However, we are utilizing this extra time to add more refinement and make certain it satisfies the lofty standards of our players."
Development Details and Narrative Elements
The game is being developed alongside Delphi Interactive, a studio also behind another major title.
Patrick Gibson, known for Dexter: Original Sin, will portray a 26-year-old James Bond in what is touted as a fresh take on the beginnings.
The narrative charts Bond as he joins into MI6 and secures his coveted 00 status, delivering a self-contained tale separate from the films or books.
Star-Studded Cast and Mechanics Glimpses
Boosting the celebrity appeal, American musician Lenny Kravitz has been revealed as the game's main villain.
Released gameplay trailers have demonstrated shared mechanics with IO Interactive's successful Hitman franchise, while also highlighting the expected gadgets and spectacular moments synonymous with Bond.
That said, some feedback on these trailers raised apprehensions over graphical fidelity, noting stuttering and prominent motion blur.
An Ambitious Project
IO Interactive has labeled 007 First Light its "biggest project to date."
"We're confident this prepares 007 First Light up for enduring popularity," the studio added. "We sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we've received."
