Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.

But the main talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away possession far outside his area.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, some Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes truly angered the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be real Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another going forward."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the second goal was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He's a great team player, he is a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian international Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

He said following the match that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn results. This match is a poor defeat and it's tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant Premier League score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes lit up a bit.

"Udogie fell too, which gave me a bit of additional time. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive sense, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team record along with 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club Brentford and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.

Only one of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.

"During in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"This result puts us in a place where we have suffered another match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can use to learn."

Spurs have lost four consecutive at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He must take the stick," the pundit said. "He's accepted a high profile role at a major team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
